A score tells you something is wrong. Evidence tells you what to fix.
Technical SEO checks are simple one at a time and tedious at scale. Is this URL redirecting? Is it blocked by robots.txt? Does the sitemap still list pages that return 404?
Many tools answer with a score or a coloured dot and leave you to work out why. Imbuz shows its working instead: the full redirect chain, the exact robots.txt rule that matched, the header or meta tag that says noindex. If a result looks wrong, you can see why it was given and check it yourself.
A typical tool
Something is wrong. Good luck finding out what.
Imbuz
- 301→302→200 Two redirects before /pricing/
Disallow: /old-in robots.txt, group*
Fix: link straight to /pricing/ and drop it from the sitemap.
What we will and won't do
Show the evidence
Every verdict comes with the response, rule or tag that caused it, and every result can be exported to CSV.
Follow the standard
Where a published spec exists, the tools implement it as written, including the awkward edge cases, rather than an approximation.
Never invent a number
No estimated traffic, no "domain authority", no guesses about what Google has indexed. If it can't be measured from outside, we don't show it.
Keep nothing
No sign-up and no stored URLs. The pages you check are fetched, the results are returned, and that's the end of it.
Three hops, all of them visible
Browsers aren't allowed to read other websites' headers or follow their redirects, so each check runs on a small server on Cloudflare's network.
-
1
Your browser
You paste URLs or a domain. They're sent to Imbuz in small batches, and the results stream back as they finish.
-
2
Imbuz, on Cloudflare
Sends an ordinary
GETrequest and follows redirects one hop at a time, recording each status, header and timing. -
3
The website
Sees a normal visit from Cloudflare's network, never your IP address. Large sitemaps are streamed to your browser and parsed there.
The rules each tool follows
When a result seems surprising, these are the documents it comes from.
- RFC 9309The Robots Exclusion Protocol: groups, longest-match precedence,
*and$wildcards. - Google's robots.txt guideHow Googlebot picks its group and treats 4xx and 5xx robots.txt responses.
- Sitemaps protocolURL sets, sitemap indexes, the 50,000-URL and 50 MB limits, gzip.
- Robots meta tag and X-Robots-TagDirectives, crawler-scoped headers and how
noneequalsnoindex, nofollow. - RFC 9110, section 15.4What each 3xx redirect status means, and which ones are permanent.
On the roadmap
Next up, in the same style: one job done thoroughly, with the evidence attached.
- Crawling & statusRobots.txt TesterTest any URL against a robots.txt file with Google’s matching rules.
- IndexingHreflang CheckerValidate hreflang tags, return links and language codes.
- On-pageMeta Tag AnalyzerCheck titles, descriptions, Open Graph and other head tags.
