On-page SEO

SEO Checker

Check any page for the on-page problems that hold it back in search: title and meta description, headings, word count, images, links, canonical, noindex and the technical basics. Every issue comes with how to fix it.

What the SEO checker looks at

GroupChecks
Search appearanceTitle tag and meta description: present, one of each, and a length that fits in the result
ContentOne H1, headings nested in order, word count, alt text on images
IndexingStatus code and redirects, noindex in the page or the X-Robots-Tag header, canonical tag
LinksInternal and outbound links, nofollow on internal links, links with no text
Social & structured dataOpen Graph title, description and image; JSON-LD that parses, and which types it declares
TechnicalHTTPS and mixed content, viewport, language, character encoding, favicon, meta refresh, response time, HTML size

The page is read as the server sends it, before JavaScript runs: the same HTML search engines receive first. Pages that robots.txt blocks for Googlebot are not fetched.

How the score works

Each check that passes counts in full, a notice counts three quarters, a warning less than half and an error nothing. The score is the share of the total. It's a guide to how much is left to fix, not a ranking prediction: a page can score 100 and still need better content, and links from other sites matter more than anything on this list.

How to use the results

  1. Fix errors first. A missing title, a noindex tag or conflicting canonicals can keep a page out of search entirely.
  2. Then the warnings: long titles, a missing meta description or H1, images without alt text, slow responses.
  3. Treat notices as a checklist. Some are deliberate, such as a short title on a contact page.
  4. Follow the links in the results to go deeper: the snippet preview, keyword density, Open Graph and schema checks each look at one part in detail.

Questions

Is this SEO checker free?

Yes, with no sign-up and no limit on how many pages you check. The URLs you check are not stored.

Can it check a whole website?

This tool checks one page in depth. To crawl every page of a site and find issues across all of them, including duplicate titles, broken links and orphan pages, use the Website SEO Audit.

Why does it show a low word count for my page?

Words are counted in the HTML as served. If your content is added by JavaScript after the page loads, it isn't in that HTML. Google can render JavaScript, but it does so later and not always fully, so server-rendered content is safer.

What is a good title length?

Google cuts titles that are wider than about 600 pixels, which is usually 50 to 60 characters. Put the most important words first so they survive if it's shortened. The SERP Snippet Preview measures the exact pixel width.

Does the meta description affect rankings?

No, Google has said it isn't a ranking factor. It matters because it's often the snippet people read before choosing a result, so a clear description can earn more clicks. Google rewrites it when it finds page text that matches the search better.
